Blog No. 2 - Blogs...Books...Movies...

When I was at school, my teacher, Miss Lim Chau, lent me a book that her husband picked out. The book was called "Tuesdays with Morrie". I thought it was a very touching story about an old man, a professor of sociology named Morrie, dying from a terminal illness, a young man, a young man named Mitch(making this story as real as possible as the author is named Mitch Albom) who was at first the friend of the professor but later they separated because the young man had to have a good life but later they rejoined because the professor was dying and he wanted to be together during their last "lesson" in life (death). The book is a very good book for those who are very scared of death because it will relieve you of your fear.

Later at school, the class and I watched the ending of a very good movie called :"Helen the Baby Fox". There is a saying about the movie, it says:"If you don't cry after the movie, you have no soul"

This is the synopsis of the movie:
"Based on a true story. Early spring in Hokkaido, Northern Japan. Taichi, a boy who tends to be a dreamer, has just arrived from the big city to live with his mother's new boyfriend, a veterinarian, and his daughter. One day after school, Taichi discovers the cub of a Northern fox crouching near the side of the road and despite the objections of those around him, he decides to take care of the lovable creature. The baby fox can't see, hear nor bark. So, Taichi names it Helen after Helen Keller, the first blind, deaf and mute person to communicate using the sign language. Helen responds to Taichi's devoted caring efforts and begins to strive for life, in spite of her frail body. The boy and his veterinarian family watch over Helen with encouragement and love."

This movie has a very sad ending but it is a very touching story. This movie is not really recommended for people whose feelings are very sensitive.

  1. "Tuesdays with Morrie" is an excellent book. It's a true story that's why the young man is called Mitch. He is the author.

I hope you'll enjoy reading it and seeing the similarities with Rinpoche's teachings.
